To develop more one-on-one interaction with the boys, Warrior Passage is kicking off a new initiative in November. This new program will replace MediaWorks, which has been postponed indefinitely due to family obligations by the instructor.
This new initiative will be held on the first meeting date of the month from 12:45 to 2 p.m. following the regular Warrior Passage meeting. The kickoff will be Nov. 6. We will use this extra time to allow the boys to enjoy playing basketball and other leisurely activities with mentors, including going to the park across from the church or playing video games at Adventure Landing. The hope is that this more relaxing atmosphere will prompt the boys to open up more individually with mentors so they will be comfortable to talk about any problems they may be having. We believe this new component will make the Warrior Passage Program a even stronger ministry for boys.
>A total of 16 boys and five mentors signed up to attend the football game in Greensboro between N.C. A&T State University and Howard University on Oct. 23. The Warrior Passage meeting scheduled for that day has been replaced by the football game and visit to A&T's campus. A special thanks to Warrior Passage mentor and Aggie graduate Bill McLaurin for arranging for the free game tickets and a tour of the campus. The boys will get an up-close look at one of our prized Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
>Don't forget that in the months of November and December, Warrior Passage meets on the first and third Saturdays of the month due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Our meetings switch back to the second and fourth Saturdays in January.
>Also don't forget our weekly tutoring sessions every Tuesday evening from 6:15 to 7:30 to help boys with school work. Please do not wait until it's too late to get this special assistance for your boy(s). By now parents/guardians should know if their boy(s) needs tutoring help.
